Our Subcommittees

OSIG has three different subcommittees.  All members volunteer their time towards SUT’s learning programs. Companies and universities represented include Alpine Ocean, AvanGrid Renewables, Benthic, BP, Cathie, Equinor, Exxon Mobil, Fugro, GeoMarine Resources, GeoMaxEd, Geosyntec Consultants/GEMS, Gray & Pape, Innovation Geotechnology, JERA NEX BP, NGI, Ocean Sierra, Ramsay Consulting, RPS, RWE, S.T. Hudson Engineers Inc., SAGE USA, Saudi Aramco, SEARCH, Shell, Sulmara, TAMU, TDI – Brooks International, University of Florida, University of Massachusetts – Amherst, University of Mississippi, UTexas Austin, Virginia Tech, Western New England University, Woodside Energy, Worley and Xodus Geohazard. Proceeds are used to provide scholarships to students undertaking studies pertinent to marine science, underwater technology or offshore engineering.

Short Courses

The goal of this Subcommittee is to disseminate knowledge of the topics that OSIG comprises.

The Subcommittee organizes shorts courses and workshops for professionals, engineers, and managers.

Course and workshop instructors are selected on the basis of their competency and experience in the topics being presented.

Workshops have been held in Houston, New Orleans, and Mexico.

Learning Seminars and Webinars

The goal of this Subcommittee is to provide a professional learning platform for geoscientists and engineers by facilitating  learning lunch seminars and webinars.

Events are organized quarterly and address current topics in the offshore energy industry in areas such as geotechnical engineering, geophysics, geology, archaeology, and offshore renewables.

Participants that attend OSIG’s seminars and webinars receive a certificate for a Professional Development Hour.

Communications

The goal of this Subcommittee is to facilitate communications of the activities of OSIG Houston to the greater community.

Promote the OSIG’s activities to the community.

Help build support of SUT Houston OSIG’s membership.
