Melanie Zacheis – Principal Geotechnical Engineer & Team Leader, Fugro

With a career that began at Fugro in 2008 as an Engineering Assistant, Melanie has grown into her current role of Principal Geotechnical Engineer and Team Leader, shaping and supporting teams within Fugro. Over the years, she has built an impressive career across both offshore and onshore projects, bringing deep technical insight and leadership to every challenge.

Octavian Taranu – Geotechnical Engineer, Fugro

Octavian joined Fugro in 2022 straight after graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a Bachelors in Geology, where he worked mainly on land projects. He then moved to nearshore projects (Hammersmith bridge on the Thames – London), followed by several large-scale windfarms, and cable route projects in the North Sea, Irish Sea and Bay of Biscay.

Together, they will be sharing valuable perspectives on the offshore industry and some of the experiences that have shaped their career paths. Looking forward to a great session!
