Subsea Engineering involves the design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of equipment located in the ocean or on the seabed. It plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient offshore energy operations.
We are excited to launch the refreshed 2026 Subsea Awareness Course (SSAC) – now enhanced with updated content and a refined learning structure aligned with the evolving needs of the subsea and broader energy industry.
To reflect the industry’s transition and the growing need for transferable skills, we have incorporated new modules aligned with the current shift in the broader energy landscape. These additions allow learners to understand how subsea expertise connects to emerging low carbon and late life asset activities.
New 2026 modules include:
- Introduction to Decarbonisation: the role of subsea systems within lower‑carbon offshore operations
- Electrification & Battery Power: emerging power distribution technologies enabling subsea processing and remote operations
- Decommissioning Fundamentals: best practices, planning, and execution considerations for end‑of‑life subsea assets.
All the new topics are directly tied to subsea operations, ensuring participants build skills that are both future‑focused and technically relevant.
CORE COURSE TOPICS:
By the end of the program, our expert presenters will have covered:
- Introduction to Subsea
- The Seabed
- Flow Assurance
- Wellheads & Trees
- Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR)
- Umbilicals
- Control Systems & Control Fluids
- Risk, Reliability & Availability
- Pipelines & Risers
- Subsea Processing
- Decarbonisation
- Electrification & Battery Power
- Decommissioning
- Installation
- Case Study (updated with 2026 industry learnings)
WHY WILL THIS COURSE BENEFIT YOU?
The Subsea Awareness Course is aimed at those who need to have a greater understanding of subsea and how this impacts the effectiveness of their work.
Whilst most of the course will be presented in a classroom environment, the sessions will be interactive, with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss what has been learnt. In particular, hands-on and visual components have been included wherever possible to enable delegates to view software models and products destined for subsea service.
The course also hosts two site visits, taking delegates out of the classroom and into the real life subsea industry plus a networking event.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Contractors, engineers, operators and those new to subsea, those transferring from other disciplines within the industry and those who have worked in subsea previously but would benefit from a refresher course and exposure to the latest technology.
