Offshore Site Investigations & Geotechnics (OSIG)

OSIG and ECOSIGG 6 OSIG and ECOSIGG 4

SUT’s Special Interest Group (SIG) on Offshore Site Investigations and Geotechnics (OSIG) serves as a recognised forum for offshore investigations covering geophysics, geology, geotechnics, foundation behaviour and the broader offshore environment.

What are the OSIG SIG’s notable achievements?

Over the years, the OSIG SIG has published and reviewed many of its guidance notes to help shape future policy. These include 2022 guidance notes for the Planning and Execution of Geophysical and Geotechnical Ground Investigations for Offshore Renewable Energy Developments.

OSIG hold their Southwest Geoforum in Bristol and Northeast Geoforum in Newcastle annually.

Since 1985, SUT’s OSIG has hosted a regular international conference series. The 2023 event explored ‘Innovative Geotechnologies driving the Energy Transition’.

The SUT OSIG 2027 conference will take place in London 14-16 September 2027.
