Standalone Facilities

A key to maximising the economic recovery from the UKCS will be the exploitation and development of small pools and stranded assets. A one of the main technologies to enable this production may be the use of standalone facilities, particularly as the major hub infrastructure is decommissioned. This evening event promises to be a very interesting exploration of this “back to the future” technology; reflecting on an example of what has been done and the lessons learned, the current asset mix and road-mapping which technologies may fit and showcasing some of the new and innovative ideas.

The Case for Standalone Facilities – Gordon Drummond – NSRI

Results from industry engagement hackathons suggested two main streams of activity necessary to fulfil MER UK, greater efficiency in the use of subsea tiebacks and also alternative solutions to conventional surface breaking facilities.  Converting new solutions to fielded facilities is certainly the more technically rich area, and as such has become a focus area for NSRI.  This presentation will outline the case for Standalone facilities and present the findings of the industry hackathons.

Offshore Production Buoy – John Woods

The OPB System is designed to operate independently from existing infrastructure and can be redeployed optimising re-use.  It provides a cost-effective production solution for Stranded Reserves, Early Production and Late Life Field Extensions.  This presentation shall share with some of the considered technical challenges to overcome buoy systems as robust standalone proposition; from subsea storage, reservoir product and operational management to tanker offloading systems.

SeaCaptur – Unlocking Small Pools and Extending Old Pools  – Maximising Economic Recovery in the New Normal Oil Price Setting – Ian Dring

SeaCaptaur is a novel Standalone – unmanned – reusable – offshore oil production system, based on a unique patented Articulated Spar Buoy design. The SeaCaptaur System incorporates a novel approach to hydrodynamic design to ensure stability for ease of access and offtake. SeaCaptaur also has a novel approach to separation of the produced fluids.
