The SUT South West Branch is back! An Evening Technical Meeting, with presentations by two industry professionals.

  • Venue: Roland Levinsky Building (J. Cragie Cinema Lecture Theatre), Plymouth University, Drake Circus, Plymouth, PL4 8AA
  • Thursday 6th March | Registration from 1800hrs, presentations from 1830-1930hrs, followed by networking

This is a FREE event, and (limited) parking is available on site. You do NOT need to be an SUT member to attend.

Following the talks, all attendees are encouraged to join the SUT South West committee and speakers for networking. This will take place in a local bar adjacent to the venue.


Presentations will start at 18:30pm and will be chaired by Kerry Hayes (Simply Blue Group), Edward Steele (Met Office) and Amy Thompson (Teledyne Valeport).

Advances in Marine Renewables – Becky Fowell (Project Manager, Regen)

As a project manager, Becky delivers high-quality research, insight and analysis to support a range of public and private sector organisations make the most of their clean energy opportunities. Her experience includes both working with developers to assess the whole-system benefits of floating offshore wind expansion, actively engaging with the wider supply chain to ensure maximum socio-economic benefits of floating offshore wind can be realised, as well as developing site characterisation and reliability assessments for a tidal stream deployment in France. A University of Plymouth alumni, Becky holds a Master of Science degree in Marine Renewable Energy.

Advances in Maritime Autonomy – Anahita Laverack (CEO, Oshen)

In her capacity as CEO, Anahita oversees the strategic development and hardware design of Oshen’s fleet of compact, autonomous, ocean robots – applying her specialised knowledge to advancing autonomous marine sensing technology. Prior to co-founding Oshen, Anahita previously completed her Master of Engineering degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Imperial College London (with a focus on the design and navigation of transatlantic autonomous micro-vessels) and worked as a robotics engineer at an augmented intelligence start-up.
