I’m standing for election to Council, offering my experience in marketing and sales to help grow and diversify the Society in coming years. I started as a dry cargo shipbroker in 1979 moving after 8 years into publishing with Offshore Engineer magazine, and have stayed with the offshore sector ever since, moving onto Euroil (now Harts E&P) and OPLs ship registers (now Clarksons Research) working offshore, adding subsea defence, dredging and marine construction to my work experience.
After that I worked 15 years enjoyable years as Co-Partner/Snr. Vice President Sales/Business Development/Marketing subsea/pipeline/offshore data analyst for Quest Offshore, primarily on our flagship “Quest Subsea Database”, giving me access to major subsea/offshore players such as BP, Shell, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Cameron, FMC, Aker Solutions & Subsea 7.
I managed sales/sponsorship for technical conferences such as MCE-Deepwater Development, Subsea Rio, Subsea Houston, Marine Construction Houston and was part of the launch team for the first OTC Brazil in partnership with the SPE.
Since leaving Quest, I consult for companies keen to improve their sales and BD activities, either as NED or Trusted Advisor. I advise how to efficiently generate increased sales and/or develop relationships with clients. This period has led me into the offshore wind energy sector, pipeline monitoring tech and today I’m still active in global software sales covering “Industry 4.0”, IoT, AR/VR technology and the ROV/AUV market.
I understand and appreciate what engineers do and I hope my wide-ranging commercial experience across various underwater related sectors would be beneficial to The SUT Council.
