SUT Honorary Treasurer

The Honorary Treasurer is a pro bono, non-executive officer of the SUT and must be an SUT member. Elected by secret ballot no later than the October Council meeting, the term is 3 years, extendable to a maximum of 6 years.

Role

  • Ensure an appropriate financial policy framework with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Finance Officer (FO).
  • Oversee the organisation’s financial affairs to ensure legality and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to the Charity Commission’s guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, FO, and Professional Accounts Advisors (PAA) on annual accounts.
  • Assess financial viability of plans proposed by the SUT.
  • Maintain proper financial records and procedures.
  • Work with Executive and Council Members on financial sustainability.
  • Stay informed on the CCLA SUT’s investment portfolio.
  • Inform and support Council Members on financial obligations and interpret financial data on behalf of the SUT.
  • Advise on financial governance and responsibilities.
  • Oversee annual budget preparation.
  • Present financial reports at Council meetings.
  • Provide a summary at the AGM and answer queries.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions on financial issues.

Responsibilities

  • Attend ~10 SUT Executive Meetings annually.
  • Attend quarterly Council Meetings to present financial reports.
  • Write the Annual Treasurer’s Report and Financial Statements for the AGM.
  • Sign the Annual Accounts and Financial Statements.
  • Authorise online payments as a bank signatory.
  • Receive annual accounts from SUT Perth and SUT-US branches with the FO and CEO.
