The oil & gas sector is facing unprecedented challenge on the right to explore and produce hydrocarbons due to climate concern from the public, and also increasingly investors and governments.
The Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) has been working closely with UKCS industry and government agencies to address the energy transition agenda and good progress has been made to date in a number of areas and cooperation is improving.
Operators are increasingly moving to reduce carbon emissions and develop green energy with their approach needing to become more coordinated with delivery of key targets and projects.
This presentation sets out the issues facing the industry, progress made to date and challenges industry to deliver at pace.
Presenter: Gunther Newcombe, OGA Director Special Projects
Gunther joined the OGA on June 1st, 2015, after a 35-year career with BP, as Director of Operations and has worked closely with industry and government to improve the performance and value of the UKCS offshore oil & gas industry.
More recently Gunther has been involved in the energy transition agenda and the development of integrated energy hubs.
Gunther will be leaving the OGA at the end of March 2020 and seeking new roles in the energy sector.
Gunther is married with four children and based in Aberdeen
