The Brazilian Branch of SUT was established in 1999 and was set up to provide a focal point for members of the SUT in the Rio de Janeiro area. It was the first overseas branch of the SUT to be set up and is part of a local initiative that established the UK Brazil Centre of Ocean Engineering (www.ukbrocean.coppe.ufrj.br).

It runs events and meetings for all those interested in underwater technology in the Rio de Janeiro area and beyond.
