Laura Machuca-Suarez

Dr. Laura Machuca-Suarez is a lecturer at the Curtin Corrosion Engineering Industry Centre (CCEIC), Curtin University since 2013. She is an environmental microbiologist with over 10 years of both research and industrial experience. Laura completed her Ph.D in Corrosion at Curtin University, Australia and currently leads research and industry projects in the field of microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) and the role of microorganisms in deterioration processes such atmospheric, marine and oilfield corrosion. Her current research focuses on the application of biomolecular, electrochemical and surface analytical technologies to study MIC. Laura is engaged in the supervision of several Ph.D students and is a member of the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA) and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) in which she is part of two Technical Working Groups.
