Noel Boylan

Noel is the Managing Director and a Principal Engineer with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in Perth. He undertook his PhD studies, which examined the shear strength of peat soils, at University College Dublin in 2008. Shortly afterwards, he emigrated to Australia to take up a position at UWA’s Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems (COFS) and later worked for a Perth based geotechnical consultancy. In 2014, Noel joined NGI when they established an office in Perth and he now leads the office. Noel has worked on projects ranging from site characterisation, foundation design, mooring anchor design for FPSO & FLNG, pipe-soil interaction, and geohazards. He has worked on projects offshore Australia, South East Asia, Gulf of Mexico, the Caspian and the North Sea. Noel is also actively involved in research and development projects on some of the above subjects and has authored/co-authored over 35 technical papers
