RMarSci is registered by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMarEST), which has a Royal Charter from the United Kingdom, to award suitably qualified and experienced applicants the title of Registered Marine Scientist.

Registered Marine Scientists are professional scientists, who harness, exploit, manage, use or apply marine science in the pursuit of knowledge, understanding of the marine environment, wealth creation and/or the provision of services in the marine sector.

They demonstrate effective leadership, using their specialist knowledge and broader scientific understanding to develop and improve the application of science and technology by scoping, planning, and managing multifaceted projects. CMarSci reflects the wide variety of sciences and their practice, recognising high levels of skill and experience, independent of discipline.

Candidates’ credentials and experience are scrutinised by at least three experts in Marine Science in a rigorous vetting process. Only the most highly qualified and experienced candidates are invited to join the elite group of Marine Scientists.

What is required?
