Sarah Elkhatib

Sarah completed her Bachelor of Engineering degree at UWA where she developed an interest in Offshore Geotechnics.  She later undertook postgraduate study with a focus on drag anchor systems for floating facilities and obtained her PhD degree in 2005.  She has since worked in the oil and gas industry in Perth, delivering projects comprising site characterisation studies, concept to detailed level engineering and installation support. Sarah’s industry experience has been broad in terms of the development types (fixed platforms, floating facilities, subsea structures) and the regions in which she has worked (Australia, the Middle East, Asia and Europe). Sarah’s passion for the industry is evident through her volunteer activities.  She has been a member of the SUT Committee for a number of years, serving as Treasurer for the past two years.  She previously held the Chair role of the OSIG-Perth, an SUT special interest group, for offshore site investigations and geotechnics.  She is very active with organising SUT/OSIG technical events with the aim of sharing knowledge across the industry. Sarah currently works as a Principal Engineer at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in Perth where she continues to deliver projects in the Offshore Energy sector.
