Aberdeen Evening Meeting – Jansz-IoCompression (J-IC)Project

Wednesday 19 November 2025 | 18:00-20:00

Aberdeenshire Cricket Club, Aberdeen

Registration – £15 SUT members / £25 non-members (+ VAT) / £10 students

The Jansz-Io Compression (J-IC) project will use proven subsea compression technology to enhance the recoverability of the Jansz-Io field and maintain the supply of natural gas to the LNG and domestic gas plants on Barrow Island.

The installation of compression and supporting infrastructure will also enable the future tie-in of other fields within the Greater Gorgon Area. J-IC is part of the original development plan for Gorgon and will support the delivery of energy to customers in Western Australia and Asia for decades to come.

Approximately 6,500 tonnes of subsea structures, including the subsea compression station responsible for compressing the field gas, will be installed on the seafloor.

Presenters:

Kevin Gauld is the Chevron Jansz-Io Subsea Compression Project Subsea Tooling & Intervention Engineer based in Oslo, Norway. Kevin is an associate member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and has over 20 years of offshore Operator and Subsea Equipment Vendor experience throughout Europe and Australasia, in upstream oil & gas, greenfield & brownfield projects. Kevin has held both engineering and operations management roles across the project lifecycle, including FEED, project execution, subsea installation, and wells intervention and workover.

Paul Hamilton is the Chevron Jansz-Io Subsea Compression Project Systems Completion Lead based in Oslo, Norway. Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia and is a chartered professional in both Civil and Subsea Engineering disciplines. He has over 30 years of onshore and offshore Operator and EPC experience throughout Southeast Asia / Australasia, in upstream oil & gas, greenfield & brownfield project execution and tendering, ranging from subsea installation and pre-commissioning through to top sides modularisation, commissioning and start-up projects.
