An Introduction to Offshore Geophysics and Geotechnical Engineering
Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics Committee, Two-day Industry Course
4- 5 December 2019, Hosted by University of Southampton
This two-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to site investigation and ground engineering in the offshore environment and has been run successfully for a number of years. The course has been expanded to include a stimulating mix of case studies, lectures, computer practicals and ‘hands on’ laboratory testing to help illustrate concepts and applications. An evening meal is included on the first day followed by mini lectures. Alongside valuable knowledge sharing, the course is an excellent opportunity to network within the offshore industry.
Industry experts will cover a wide range of topics from planning an offshore site investigation, through technical and operational aspects of data acquisition and reporting, to the practical use of the data in geohazard assessment and foundation design.
The course is intended for non-specialists and will give a broad overview of the offshore market today and how the data acquired is applied to maximise the value of offshore projects.
Cost
SUT Member Rate: £570 (+VAT)
SUT Non-Member Rate: £720 (+VAT)

We invite you to attend our Subsea Awareness Course on the 31 August – 4 September.
This five-day Course has been designed by industry and is suitable for contractors, engineers, operators and those new to subsea, those transferring from other disciplines within the industry and those who have worked in subsea previously but would benefit from a refresher course and exposure to the latest technology.
Whilst most of the course will be presented in a ‘classroom’ environment, the sessions will be interactive, with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss what has been learnt. In particular, hands-on and visual components have been included wherever possible to enable delegates to view software models and products destined for subsea service.
The in person course also hosts two site visits, taking delegates out of the classroom and into the real life subsea industry plus a networking dinner. Online delegates will also attend the site visits but not the networking dinner.
To register for the course please review the flyers below and choose if you wish to attend online or in person.
